L'univers pixel de l'artiste In the Woup : un hommage vibrant à Mario - MoGA

The pixel universe of the artist In the Woup: a vibrant tribute to Mario

The world of Pixel Art is constantly expanding, and among the artists who stand out, In the Woup occupies a special place. This self-taught French creator, passionate about pixels and Street Art, pays homage to the pop culture icons of his childhood, including the famous Mario Bros.

A tribute to pop culture and pixel art

Born before the Google era and after the release of Nintendo's NES, In the Woup grew up with Club Dorothée and the Super Nintendo, major influences in his work. His works are a vibrant mix of references to literature, manga, video games, comics, TV series, cinema and current events.

The MARIO WORLDZ PROJECT: a bold artistic exploration

In the Woup's flagship art project, the MARIO WORLDZ PROJECT, asks a simple but intriguing question: "What if Mario Bros. had a lot more costumes?" Through this project, he creates imaginative crossovers where Mario Bros. takes on different roles, crossing various cultural universes. To date, approximately 400 of these crossovers have been completed, and this is just the beginning.

Works visible throughout the world

In the Woup's creations are not limited to France. His works can be admired in many countries, including Spain, Italy, Mexico, the United States, India, and recently the Sultanate of Oman. Each mosaic is a unique piece that finds its place in the urban landscape, attracting attention and arousing the wonder of passers-by.

An exclusive collaboration with MoGA

In the Woup recently collaborated with MoGA to produce two exclusive works: Ikki and Michelangelo . Ikki is a tribute to the Knights of the Zodiac, capturing the power and mysticism of this iconic character. Michelangelo, meanwhile, transports viewers into the world of the Ninja Turtles, recalling the hours spent in front of the television following the adventures of these heroes. These works are a true return to childhood, offering a perfect fusion of nostalgia and innovation.

A self-taught and passionate artist

In the Woup is a 100% self-taught artist. Having always enjoyed visual arts at school, he has never stopped exploring this field. His first forays into urban art began in 2009 in Nancy, with mosaics inspired by video game sprites from the 80s/90s like Tetris, Mario Bros or Zelda.

The evolution of a unique style

Over the years, In the Woup has refined his technique and creative universe. Today, he uses enamels for his mosaics, ensuring better durability and a rich color palette. His style can be described in three words: minimalist, colorful and flashback. Each work takes the audience back to a specific moment in their life, often linked to childhood and pleasant memories.

Street art as a means of expression

Street art offers In the Woup an incomparable freedom of expression. He particularly appreciates the fact that his creations, once installed in public spaces, resonate with thousands of people, evoking positive feelings. This interaction with the public is for him a constant source of motivation and satisfaction.
