Social Bot
Social Bot
In Social Bot , Alexandre Galatioto explores our ambiguous relationship with technology through a simple but meaningful scene. The character, a humanoid robot with synthetic hair, stares at a smartphone with an almost human expression. His eyes, half-mechanical, half-organic, seem absorbed by the screen, as if this bot shares our modern addiction to social networks.
The robot's design, both elegant and futuristic, is enriched with subtle details: circuits visible under its "skin", a cybernetic katana on its back, and pastel tones that contrast with the technological theme, evoking a gentle melancholy. This choice of palette softens the expected coldness of a mechanical character, making it oddly endearing, almost vulnerable.
With this work, Galatioto tells not only the story of a robot, but that of all of us. Social Bot reflects digital solitude, hyperconnection and this strange proximity between machines and their creators. Is this a criticism? An observation? The artist leaves it to the viewer to interpret. What is certain is that Social Bot captures a universal moment in a future that already seems here, where even machines could scroll to escape reality.
